Sharon graduated from Eastern Michigan University and the
Providence Hospital School of Medical Technology with a major
in Medical Technology and minors in Biology and Chemistry.
After working in various departments of the laboratory, she
chose the Blood Bank at St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor Hospital.
It was there that she studied for her SBB certification, spent
over 20 years as a section leader, and became an AABB assessor.
While she enjoys the challenges of identifying antibodies
and resolving blood typing discrepancies, her favorite work
involves developing quality systems and experiencing their
positive outcomes. Her current position is Quality Assurance
Coordinator for the Blood Bank and Transfusion Service at
University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers.
